This Workshop is suitable for regular yoga practitioners who would like to find stability, strength and confidence for arm balances and inversion in this opportunity to explore their foundations, and the body mechanics necessary to do these safely and efficiently. Whether you are a seasoned practitioner, have recently started or not yet started to go upside down or taken flight, you will sure enjoy have fun, surprise yourself and learn something new =)
During the workshop, we will warm up the body paying especial attention to core engagement, and to the alignment needed to do any arm balance. We will explore foundational arm balances such as crow, and some of its variations as side crow among others. We will also turn upside down exploring headstand and tripod headstand, and variations of each will be given to suit every level so for the more comfortable practitiones, there will be lots of variations given to spice up your practice.
We will do preparatory poses and drills that get the body familiarised with the activation of muscles and joints, as well as the positioning needed to take flight and be upside down with confidence.
Once the body is familiarised with the shape of each one of the arm balances and inversions to be practiced, we will explore the vast range of possibilitites that stem from a particular base of support.
For the last part of the class, we will finish up with yin based postures to generate balance in both body and mind, which will be followed by a well deserved savasana
Inversions and arm balances are the best ways to test your inner trust, overcome fear and remind yourself that life is not as serious as our mind makes it out to be ! So, this will also be a great time for practicing meeting challenge with acceptance, understanding and resilience.
Note: Expect to learn and surprise yourself, but do not expect to be able to do everything on this one day, like evertything in life, some things take time and patience, you will indeed learn lots about your body and how to use it to transcend self-limiting beliefs ♥
