In this playful 2 and a half hours workshop you will learn fundamental tools / techniques to build core strength and alignment in both inversions and arm balances.
Getting past the fear and experiencing the many benefits of being upside down, breaking the limits of what we believe possible and stepping out of our comfort zone to explore new aspects of what is possible within ourselves.
Inversions improve circulation by providing the brain with more oxygen and blood which increases mental functioning, it improves concentration, memory, and processing abilities.
They also increase immunity and prevent illness; As lymph moves through the body it picks up toxins and bacteria to be eliminated by the lymph nodes. Because lymph moves as a result of muscle contractions and gravity, getting upside down allows lymph to more easily travel into the respiratory system where much of the toxins enter the body.
Arm balances, on a physical level, are a great way to create strength in most muscles of the body including the arms, wrists, abdominal and back muscles. and On a mental level, it creates inner power, mental stillness and focus since we have to let go of any thought that weighs us down and be completely in the moment with focus so that dare to step our feet off the ground and experience our "lighter" Self.
This workshop will last 2 hours, starting with breathing techniques (pranayama), meditation (one simgle pointed concentration, Dharana) and postures (asanas) to warm up the body, getting it ready for inversions and arm balances. We will end the workshop with yoga nidra (guided aware relaxation, "yogic sleep") and after that some tea and healthy snacks =)
